Howard and Charlene have lived a full life, from raising five children and pursuing careers to traveling the country with Charlene’s bowling league. Add competitive boxing with the Golden Gloves during Howard’s high school years, and you start to get a glimpse of the exciting life they’ve lived. Married 68 years, Howard and Charlene have had many wonderful experiences, so when their health declined, they wanted to continue living a quality life. Home healthcare and hospice allowed them to do so. In 2013, Charlene was diagnosed with late onset Alzheimer’s and in 2019, Howard was also diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Charlene began receiving home healthcare four years ago and transitioned to hospice in August of 2021. In late August, Howard also began hospice due to colon cancer. The nursing care, physical therapy and aide services they’ve received have made a real difference for their family. It has allowed them to stay in the home they’ve lived in for 54 years together, surrounded by loved ones, where they can make the most of this treasured time.
